[scribus] Ubuntu 13.04 stalls during reading preferences

Hi

I upgraded my previously fine Ubuntu 12.10 and Scribus 1.4.2

But now when I run Scribus it stalls on the reading preferences on start 
up for about 5 mins then continues.

I removed the .scribus file and restarted scribus but still same issue.

I also then removed the package and went back to the package in the 
Ubuntu repo, 1.4.0 (oddly), but with same issue

If I run from cmd line I get this:-

and a further few more  'QProcess: Destroyed while process is still 
running' appears whilst its hanging.

Its also annoying as the splash screen shows up on top of everything 
else while 'reading preferences' meaning you cant see some of the screen.

Any ideas?
