yes it can, but only one image at a time... or did i miss a new feature?

since this is a feature that has been asked for so many times, this 
morning i've spent some time on a script and i could get to the point 
where it seems to work correctly.

i think that it should be somehow straightforward to add the same 
implementation to the picture browser (if -- as i think -- it there is 
no such function there yet; otherwise i did the work for nothing..).

i will publish the script as soon as i know that it works and i've 
cleaned it up a bit.
