[scribus] Number of folds in new documents

Dear Craig,

Thank you very much for answering the question. Much appreciated

(Incidentally the sheet is very wide; it is 230mm x 640mm; cut out of an SRA2
sheet - I didn't dare mention any of that; these othe guys would not have had a
clue what I was talking about. They can't be graphic designers if they are
confused about "folds" for pity's sake?!)

These are "quick start" guides I do for one particular client. I am packing a
batch of 750 right now; they have had over 3000 of this design over the past
couple of years and I have done about a dozen different designs for them. Many
of them are 5 fold but the client seems to be settling to the 6 fold design.

The client likes them because the product range has a common enclosures; these
pack into a common cardboard package; and our leaflet drops in the top of the
box. It's the basics of connection; calibration; and typical operation.

But it is a fair bit of text; even in 9pt.

. . . . in the end it isn't a deal breaker. I do a similar manual pagination . .
. oops - sorry; graphic designer speak . . .

I paste the text blocks down by hand and line them up using the rulers; in
Illustrator. The "folds" were not the point; it was the automatic positioning of
the text boxes that I was interested in; and that - it appeared - was driven off
the folds. If you know how to do that; please say so.

It isn't a deal breaker.

This really comes down to . . . I get the giddies when I see what is coming down
the track with Windows 10

I think it is seriously time to get learning Linux and I need something else to
use besides my Adobe software.

That is why I am here.

I want to be able to "own" my stuff. Not end up being blackmailed by Microsoft
every month; simply to be able to get at my stuff.

I always said I would "buy Windows but I would never buy Microsoft applications"
- because Microsoft did not understand graphics.

They tested their software with a couple of sheets of US sized Letterhead paper
- and that was it.

I build big bits of artwork; I have built Gb sized files. I have bust Windows
capacity to print them on more than one occassion.

That is why I use Adobe; it can cope.

But I have to be blunt; is this a "serious" bit of design software . . . is it
only being tested and designed by people who are confused by the term "fold" -
yet alone by anyone wanting more than four folds ??

Is this another bit of software that can cope with a couple of sheets of US
sized Letter head paper; but fails to print the bottom third of the sheet if it
is any bigger ??

They didn't even understand what "fold" means ?? . . . oh boy  . . .
