[scribus] Viewing existing PDFs

I am new to using Scribus and am interested in viewing some existing pdf
files that I have. When opening pdf's in Scribus, the files are distorted
and don't convert properly. Is there some other way to import the files so
they are editable? Thanks for any advice!!
