In frame editing can never fully replace the story editor.

For example when working with rotated frames it is a real pain to use
in-frame editing since the view on the screen cannot be rotated. And even
if the view could be rotated, opening a story editor window would be a lot
faster.

When working with linked text frames and editing a long story it becomes
hard to find the place you are looking for by in-frame editing, working in
something like the story editor is a lot easier.

There are probably several other situations where in-frame editing is more
or less useless.
