In my case, the graphic is a PNG file, and nothing in the transparent 
layer.  For the PNG file, that's what I wanted.  I wanted a graphic 
where the color of the "paper" or whatever was the background co

In my project, the background paper is white, but I wanted the frame to 
have color behind the graphic.  So I used the fill feature for the frame 
to give me a colored background.

This is now the logo for the project.

Now I want the logo on an accompanying website.  But the website 
background is not white, so just the PNG will not work.  So, says I, 
export the frame as a JPG, problem solved.  But, no go.  <G>

Maybe that will be considered for a future version of Scribus.

I think we have miscommunication here.  Are you talking a Linux Print 
Screen, or Windows Print Screen?  I just checked in W10, and pressing 
Print Screen copies the screen to the clipboard, and then you have to 
open something where you can paste it.

Way, way back, print screen was pretty darned useful.  Then, with a new 
version of Windows, it was reduced to the above.

I actually like my Mac.  But it's 8 years old, and I thought it was slow 
when it was new.  And the slowness is starting to wear on me as I try to 
get more things done with the computer when I use it.  So it's slowly 
becoming a personal use computer only.  When I want to get things done, 
usually it's W7 unless I have some particular reasons for using W8 or W10.

It's not likely I'll replace it with something else, but not because I 
don't like the way it works.  But because Apple seems to be moving in a 
direction with the OS that does not appeal to me.

Now, if I were to win that lottery...    LOL

MS just seems to become more and more customer unfriendly.  Especially 
the spying that's turned on by default.  Although, some of it seems to 
mimic Apple.  There's a utility out there called Blackbird that will 
turn it all off.  You can selectively turn on specific features via 
command line.

I do have a W10 Pro system, but it's installed on a really, really slow 
computer from years ago (free W7 to W10 upgrade) and I'm just using it 
to learn W10 to aid in my computer tutoring.

I would have to say that Windows does more overall, but if you restrict 
things to the average person off the street, I have to agree.

But I'm finding Linux still has a ways to go when it comes to ease of 
doing things to the OS for that person off the street.  I think it's 
still a little too "geeky" for the person off the street.

But Linux is probably where I land when the Mac dies, and it may be on 
that road.

I've heard that too, and it's a symptom of people's ignorance.

Yea, I believe there are some EULA's that specify that the first 
"resell" of the computer has to include the original OS, but after that 
all bets are off.

Here in the US, those early days were Macs.  Not sure why districts 
started moving to Windows, but I think the pendulum is starting to swing 
the other way.
