Something that may not be obvious is that you disable printing (and PDF
export) by clicking the icon that looks something like a printer in the
block of icons just below the Geometry block in Properties. Its tooltip
says, "Enable or disable exporting of the object". To verify you've
clicked the right thing, right-click on the frame and check the Info,
where it should say "Print: Disabled".
