(In an earlier version of both macOS and Scribus, this worked.) PDFs exported from the Mac only have the low-res graphic, not the embedded PDF.

I checked this out a bit on Linux (Fedora 28). Curiously, I can load a PDF into an image frame, but when I try to export to PDF, I get an error stating "Unable to load an image: /tmp/xxxxxxxxx.pdf" even though the file is there and I can open it with Adobe Acrobat. This occurs whether or not I check Embed PDF in the PDF Exporter dialog.
It works Ok with importing PDF as vector. I did notice that when I import as vector, I am asked which page to import, but not when putting a PDF into an image frame, and this was a 2-page PDF...is this important?
