Did as you said. The compile didn't take very long. The make install 
went as usual. But, it didn't end up with the little triangle at the 
bottom of the 'S', shadow function.

I'm feeling it has something to do with my many 64-bit libs... but OTOH 
the 'S' shows up... earlier 1.3 builds didn't have it. Must be something 
to do with the way the parameters for the shadow effect come into play.

I'm at a loss until Franz has a suggestion.
