As long as Adobe stays in business Postscript will be a standard.  If 
you haven't created a virtual postscript printer driver using 
GhostScript than the procedure given at
http://www.stat.tamu.edu/~henrik/GSPSprinter/GSPSprinter.html
may be of interest to you.
