[Scribus] PHP extension?

I need a powerfull, stable, serverside PDF engine (must do hyphenations).
But as you say, for the moment, scribus is single-threaded, which is 
annoying for me.

I'm having a look at LaTeX for now, and someone told me about iText.
If you have other ideas...
