Hallo Ralf,

make sure that you have a decent X11 environment going.
It took me about two days of research to straighten this out,
and just to compile Scribus 1.3.3.9 with MacPorts and MacOS 10.5.1 -
using Fink I never succeeded yet.

In the process I erased about ALL of my X stuff to start from scratch.
I downloaded and installed the new X11 2.1.1 from here:
http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/X112.1.1
and overlooked the all important sentence,
that I would also need the X11 package still that comes with Leopard...

For what it is worth, some X11 components need to be in place already
at compile time.

Viel Erfolg und guten Rutsch,
Thorsten.
