[Scribus] Image frame doesn't make any sense to me

You are certainly focusing too much on the fact that the image frame needs
to be a certain size before you place the image.

Draw an image frame of any size
Right click, get image, select, click ok.
Right click, and adjust frame to image. Of course, this will only work as
you expect if the "printing size", or basically the DPI settings are stored
correctly within the image (dependent on the image export application).

Of course, if you were in KDE, (and in the future, on all desktops I hope),
you can just drag from konqueror onto the canvas and it will create the
image frame for you and put the image there where you dropped it.
