The problem seems to center around trying to use a 1.2 template for 
1.3.5 project. It can be done but each text block requires 
considerable massaging.  Just editing the paragraph style is not 
sufficient. You must highlight the text in story editor and call for 
the correct font also.

if you create a new text window the newly edited paragraph style works 
OK.  

 The initial substitution dialogue is effectively useless. 

The ultimate solution is to make new template files in 1.3.5.  I'll 
give it a try.
