[scribus] pdf problems

This kind of thing is not going to be feasible strictly within Scribus. 
One suggestion might be to use Gimp or Photoshop to manipulate the 
scissors image and create the shadow. You will probably need to make the 
shadow as a separate image, since this will need transparency, but the 
scissors will not use transparency. Right now Scribus doesn't have this 
kind of advanced shadow and transparency natively, but it can control 
transparency for an entire frame/image.
