It is important to understand that a digital image does NOT have a DPI
until printed (or shown on a screen).
What you always should look at is the resolution (the pixels, or
rather megapixels).
Then the DPI will depend on what size you print the image. (Very easy,
just divide the amount of pixels for width or height with the printed
size, 2000 pixels wide printed 10 inch wide means 200 DPI. And the
same 2000 pixels wide image printed at 5 inch width makes 400 DPI.)
Also note that when deciding how high DPI is needed, the viewing
distance should always be considered. 300 DPI is generally needed for
reading at "arms length" distance. But if viewing the image from 2
meters away you most likely don't need more than 100-150 DPI.
