how to get OK button to work from keyboard?

In every dialog box, the default button is not set to the enter key.
  I suspect...QPushbutton  buttonOK  default is false

is most annoying to open preferences dialog on a 600px high screen, change  
the setting and not be able to activate default button which is hidden below  
the screen. Is a generally annoying issue everywhere, a dialog box pops up.
