[scribus] Transparency Simulation if your commercial printer does not allow transparency

Most printers do not accept transparent vector art in a pdf.
Scribus cannot "flatten" a file so it look transparent, so:

My workaround for simple transparency stuff like
half-transparent background over a picture, for easy readable text:

use a special png-graphic

- create a new graphic in Gimp with white backdrop
- go to Gimp-Layers, move opacity slider from 100% to e.g. 70%
-> gives you transparent white.
Save that as transparent.png

In Scribus, create a Imageframe (key "i"), load transparent.png
(ctrl-d) and you now have a transparent rectangle.

Tipps:
Try "fit picture to frame" and you can scale it as you need.
Use a special form or contour line for more involved design.
Stack two frames, for more white background and less transparency.
Use other colors than white.

The resulting PDF is accepted by all offset printers i use.

There some are WYSIWYG-probs. Always check the pdf before printing from it.
