[Scribus] Japanese and mutli footnotes

Dear Paul and other Scribus users

I am an educator in Japan trying to write an English Language text book.

The way that it is difficult to anchor images in M$W*rd is really excruciating,
but it was the fact that it (and OOo) do not allow more than one footnote
per line, which is a real pain when I have about 20 footnotes per page, that
makes me wonder whether I should buy something like Indesign (ouch!) or
perhaps install Linux on my spare PC and install Scribus.

I have never used anything other than wordprocessors so I do not know what
I am missing in desktop publishing but, other than the lack of multiple
foot notes per line (and perhaps the really annoying image jumping!!!)
I would stick, or be stuck, with W*rd.

I have had a look aroudn the Scribus website but failed to see answers to
the following so I humbly ask

Can Scribus handle Japanese two byte characters and folder names?
Does Scribus handle footnotes (i.e. autorenumbering them)?
Does Scribus allow more than one footnote per line?

If the answer to any of these questions is "no" I would be most grateful
for any suggestions on what I might do.

BTW I also here that there is even a beta Windows version of Scribus mentioned
recently here

Please may I be allowed to download this?
