"insert > frames..." allows you to create a set of linked frames.

it would be nice if somebody could take the time to improve that dialog 
and let it get the the size and position from the current selection (and 
use the current selection as the first elements in the series; so no 
creation on the current page...)
personally, i have enough things to do already...
